Say Hello to our friends Klara and Klaus!

    Last updated 5 years ago

This very attractive couple just moved here from Germany.  They aren’t over weight at all, they are just ‘BIG BONED” But most importantly they have a personality like no others. All joking aside, the Retrovelo Klaus and Klara have earned the position of the store favorites.

Most of the European City bikes that we carry at A Street Bike Named Desire have a lot of similar characteristics.   Hand made lugged steal frames, Brooks saddles, internal shifters and drum brakes.  Overall well built bikes that are low maintenance and reliable.

The retrovelos have some unique features that really make them stand out from the others.  The paint color and frame quality of both the Klaus and Klara are striking. While the bikes appear to be oversized, the one size geometry is designed to accommodate most riders.  If you think the Fat Frank tires will slow you down, think again.  In fact, what you gain by having the oversized tires is one of the smoothest riding bikes on the market. Full fenders, chain guard and generator light make the Retrovelos the ultimate city cruiser and commuter. You have to come test ride one of these beauties and see for yourself

We love these bikes! Can you tell?

    Cargo Bikes!

    Last updated 5 years ago

Chances are you have already spotted a few of these amazing cargo bikes around town. We are thrilled to have almost sold a dozen of these cargo bikes since we opened our doors in June.

In addition to the Christiania Boxcycles, we have added a few more cargo bikes to our collection. Come visit us at A Street Bike Named Desire to see and test ride the Nihola Trike and the Extracycle Radish.

These cargo bikes are very easy to operate even with a full 220lb load of Kids and cargo. These bikes are a blast for the whole family. Come visit us a A Street Bike Named Desire this weekend and see for yourself.

This made us love Brompton that much more! Fits perfectly into the Porsche's little trunk

Teach Your Child to Ride a Bike the Easy Way

    Last updated 5 years ago

Teaching your child how to ride a bike can be an exciting experience for both of you. To ensure that your son or daughter has the best possible learning experience, consider training him or her on a bike that is stable, easy to ride, and comfortable. Here’s an introduction to the easiest non-training wheel bike that a child can ride.

    Start Early

While training wheels are an effective way to get your son or daughter to ride a bike for the first time, it is important that your child not get used to having this extra set of supportive wheels while riding. The Early Rider is the perfect transition bike, as its wheels are designed to help the rider achieve consistent stability. Children can start handling the Early Rider on their own at three or four years of age.

    Keep Your Child Comfortable

The same back wheel that helps your child maintain his or her balance also makes the Early Rider an exceptionally comfortable ride. Bumps in the road that make most cyclists clench their handlebars can be crossed with ease, and soreness associated with a rough ride will elude your child as long as long as he or she continues to use an Early Rider.

    Build Confidence

Acquiring the skill to ride on two wheels can give a child a sense of confidence that can affect other aspects of his or her life. As soon as your son or daughter is ready to move on from training wheels, you can safely assume that he or she will have little difficulty maneuvering the Early Rider bicycle.

With the holiday season approaching, it is time to start thinking about the perfect gift for your child. If you would like to give your son or daughter a gift that will promote a healthy and active lifestyle and instill confidence that can last a lifetime, consider the Early Rider bicycle. To learn more about this bicycle, which your child can use to travel around your San Francisco neighborhood and to school, call A Street Bike Names Desire at (888) 821-6831.
