Pippa and her new Nihola Cargo Bike

Last fall, I purchased a large cargo bike from A Street Bike Named Desire and I have nothing but good things to say about the experience and the shop generally.
They were the only dealers in the region to carry the bike I wanted (the Christiania Bike or "Box Cycle"). They were knowledgeable about it, and it's respective advantages and disadvantages, and the one they sold me has functioned flawlessly since I made the purchase. So, in this sense, they offered everything I would want from a bike seller.
But they went above and beyond in several ways and made me feel like they were ready to work for my business. First, there was some confusion about my bike's appropriate list price and, though the confusion was not their fault, they came up with a solution to the quandary that was very fair. Second, they were quite responsive throughout the whole experience--they addressed me by name and paid attention to what I communicated. Finally, they were unstinting with their time on the phone and in the store. In fact, they let me haul one of their mechanics around in the bike in the parking lot, just so I could seewhat it was like to carry a person in the bike. That was fun.
I'm just glad that I live in Oakland and can't access the shop too easily: their selection of bikes is AMAZING and I could seriously spend every last dollar at their store if I didn't restrain myself! They specialize in bikes that people use in their daily lives--not racing or touring bikes--and have a great selection of folders, commuters, and cargo bikes, all displayed beautifully.
This is my favorite bike shop by a long shot. A great place.
Its clear that at A Street Bike Named Desire, we have a passion for the looks and feel of handmade European city bikes. Two of the primary reasons for their beauty and comfort is the use of Brooks leather saddles and grips. Because of popular demand we have decided to dedicate a new section of our store to the stunning line of Brooks. In addition to Leather saddles and grips, we have Brooks bags, panniers and baskets.
We are excited to announce the arrival of the Brompton "Mini" O bag. Like all of the Brompton bags, the Mini O Bag is durable, attractive and fits great on the Brompton even when folded. Its the perfect solution for Wallet, keys, iphone and a big lunch. You can come check them out at A Street Bike Named Desire
Add a Free Radical kit by Xtracycle to your existing bike and you will be blown away with how often you can truly leave your car at home. The free Radical isn’t complicated to add to your bike, but we are happy to do the conversion for you at A Street Bike Named Desire. Xtracycle has created great storage panniers called “Free Loaders”, stylish child seats and other fun accessories. I recently added a Free Radical to one of my existing bikes and I must say I’m Impressed. The Free Radical is so much fun to have on my bike. My daughter and her friends sit comfortably on the “Magic Carpet” and absolutely love it. When my daughter is happy, I am happy. I am convinced that the Free Radical by Xtracycle is the most affordable and fun way to shuttle around 350lbs of kids and cargo. Here are some photos of my conversion.
